June 16, 2010 - Etna, CA; 824 Miles, Day 58

I just updated my website with the latest news of my Pacific Crest Trail hike, along with several new photos. This is a perfect town to contemplate options for the snowy trail ahead. The beautiful weather of the last few days is slowly taking a toll on the unusually deep and extensive snowpack.

Hello, Found you while searching PCT NOBO hikers. I am leaving to do do the JMT and was wondering what the trail conditions are like from Whitney to Lyle Canyon? Cant seem to get any first hand reports. Any info is helpful and best of luck on your adventure North. Willinghammer/ June 21-2010

  2. Hi Willinghammer,

I haven't done that stretch yet, but there seems to be a lot of snow most places up high yet. You will likely encounter much more snow that usual this time of year along with tougher river crossings. I know some people are making it through, but it's taking work and good navigational skills.

    Good luck!
